In our final look at the story of Joseph we read of burials, blessings and bones. With the death of their father, Jacob, Joseph’s brothers begin to worry whether they are really forgiven or if Joseph will at last take revenge on them for selling him into slavery. We can worry about whether God has really forgiven us? However the Cross deals with all our sins and we should be living with the blessing of forgiveness, not in an anxiety of worry. Also Joseph knows that despite the tough times he’d been through that God had intended it for good. To really believe the promises of God is going to affect our lives and thinking right now.

Stephen does an overview of Genesis 46-49, looking at the issues of hope, worship, reunion, engagement and living for eternity.

‘Repentance’ sounds like a negative word, but it’s really about making good changes. It’s a discipline which we never fully grow out of and which can restore harmony and peace to our souls.

Genesis 41 opens with Joseph languishing in obscurity in an Egyptian prison. But things are about to change dramatically for Joseph, as Pharaoh is troubled by a dream. Genesis 39 shows us how Joseph was being tested, trained and shaped by God to come to a position of greatness in Egypt. He prospers even in really challenging situations, overcomes the strong attempts of Potiphar’s wife to seduce him and then gets rewarded for his godliness by being put in prison! But God is with Joseph in all of this. This story remains so relevant for us today as God wants to train and shape us for effective ministry.
