Restitution Education Fund
Since before the ‘94 elections, we in Jubilee have been impacted from the scriptures (e.g Zaccheus in Luke 19:1ff) not just by our need to show compassion but also by our need to demonstrate justice by making restitution. Since many of us have benefited from the injustice of Apartheid, we felt that a Restitution Education Fund for those communities who have been disadvantaged by it, would be most appropriate. Since we started this fund we have distributed close to
R300 000 to various students
connected to our members.

The way it works

Because our existing Life Group structure provides the best way to administer this fund relationally, applications are made by members with reference to our Life Group leaders who are then able to follow-up with sponsored students more holistically (eg to assist students more than just financially).

What is Restitution? Isn't it a political word? Restitution is legalistic? It's a guilt-trip bringing condemnation and keeping us bound in the past? It is contradictory to the biblical teaching of grace?
