Children

Sunday morning celebration:

Children Psalm 145 vs 4 & 5 tells us that ‘One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty.”

At Jubilee, it is our desire to see God raise up a generation of children who are passionate about Jesus, and who have a personal relationship with him.

During our Sunday morning service, we have age specific programmes, where children are able to enjoy worship; relevant and inspiring teaching from the Bible and opportunities to grow in relationship with older, more mature Christians who lead them by example. We are passionate to avoid bringing children up to believe that Christianity is a set of rules for them to follow. We aim to show them that the bible clearly says there is no chance that any of us can ever be good enough for God but that in Jesus, we have a saviour who can take away our sins and make us perfect before God. So we strive, firstly to encourage children to encounter Jesus and know Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. We also hope that what children learn on Sundays will help them to grow as they follow Jesus during the week.

Jubilee Kids’ group names are drawn from the theme of fire. In 2 Tim 1:6 Paul tells Timothy to ‘fan into flame the gift of God’ as he encourages him in his faith and particularly to be courageous in faith. We believe this is our calling as those who disciple and teach the next generation. Our prayer is that by the time our children are ready to be in Jubilee’s youth they will have had their faith fanned into flame and will also be zealous about fanning it for themselves and others.

We seek to serve our children through these goals:

  • Worship: To help children to enjoy times of age appropriate praise and to create opportunities for children to be drawn into the presence of God.
  • Salvation: To teach the gospel & to present opportunities for children to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour
  • Bible truths: to present the Bible in alive, creative and interactive ways of teaching. We want our children to understand, learn and love the Bible; and to apply God’s Word to their lives
  • Prayer: to teach our children how to pray. We encourage children to develop a relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit; and to enjoy His gifts and to encounter His presence
  • Authentic community: It is our desire to build genuine relationships in a cross cultural group of kids and to foster a genuine love and respect for each other. Relationships are built (particularly in the older children’s programmes) through small groups.
  • Fun, creative & innovative programmes: Meeting with Jesus and learning to love others is FUN! Our aim is to make it just that!

On a Sunday morning we have programme organized by teams of leaders in different venues, suited to the needs of the children:

Cry room
There is a cry room facility for parents with babies under a year old. This room has a sound link and looks into the main auditorium and is also linked to the crèche. It serves parents who would like to listen to the service while being able to care for their baby.
Creche (8months - 18months)
The crèche offers a safe and fun environment for babies who are just learning how to become a little more independent in being by themselves for a while. A group of loving leaders care for these babies and toddlers by helping them explore fun through games, toys, stories, music and play. Parents are also welcome to sit in the crèche with their child and listen to the sermon played while doing so. The crèche is situated upstairs, behind the bookshop.
Jtots (18months – 3yrs)
This exciting group meets in a large room, and every Sunday is filled with a buzz of activity as toddlers are involved in an array of different fun activities.

The toddlers group is led by 3 amazing teams of leaders who each week follow our theme in creatively teaching Bible stories made relevant to this age. The programme includes a welcome, story, Malusi the puppet, singing and movement, and a craft related to the topic. Other activities which are favourites are the ball pond, the garage, activity tables, the playhouse & the slide!

Our aim is that our toddlers have SO much fun at Jubilee in a place where they can feel safe and learn God's love.
Little Sparks (3 yr olds)
Energy, energy, energy! Each week these young kids love hearing Bible stories, doing crafts, singing along to worship songs and following their leaders in doing creative and fun activities. It so great to see 3 year olds loving hearing about God and setting biblical foundations in their understanding of the world. Little Sparks is structured in a fun way, where kids will often take home small crafty activities and fun sheets which will help parents to follow up with the Bible story and application. We pray for these kids to discover the love that God has for them in their saviour, Jesus and that they would also learn biblical wisdom that will encourage obedience and support to their parents.
Sparks (4 yr olds)
SparksThis is another energetic and enthusiastic group of kids who love stories and songs and play. The ‘Sparks’ team of leaders do creative stories through the use of drama, puppets and role play; often using exciting costumes and backdrops. This pre-school group also has a fun but structured programme where activities include the following: table time as children enter (play dough, play animals, puzzles etc), welcome and news, Bible stories, songs, crafts and juice and biscuits. Children also often have times with leaders where they can chat, pray and apply the bible story to their lives. We aim to continually lay solid foundations and consistently teach the children that following Jesus is not about keeping to a set of rules but accepting his love and forgiveness and letting that shape their lives.
Ignite (Grade 1-2)
Ignite is a place where kids in grades 1 and 2 come together every Sunday morning to play, imagine, jump, watch, pray, chat, learn, worship and grow with God. The leadership teams are very creative and as a result there is always something different happening! We want to see kids in this age group knowing and loving God as well as growing in good relationships with one another and the Ignite leaders.
Flame (Grade 2-3)
Flame is our group for children in grades 2 and 3. The boys and girls in this group are able to push a little deeper and ask good questions so we like to challenge them in helpful ways in our sessions. We are often encouraged by the Flame kids’ knowledge of the bible. We also play energetic games and teach bible stories in imaginative ways, often getting the children involved in telling the stories and leading the group in prayer.
Blaze (Grade 4-7)
BlazeBlaze is led by two teams of passionate young people who love to see preteens encouraged to be full of faith in their everyday lives. We want church to be fun and relevant for this age and our programme consists of a variety of activities including drama, games, worship, small groups, short talks, competitions and prayer. Blaze aims to be a place of discipleship to this significant age group to help them become more passionate followers of Jesus, to start to influence their peers with their convictions and lifestyle, and to be solid in their walk with Him as they enter their teen years.

Friday Blaze

Friday Blaze is our Jubilee youth group for junior school children in grades 4 – 7. On Friday evenings, Jubilee comes alive as kids gather to have incredible fun, games, prizes, worship, exciting teaching, wacky themes, food, meet new friends and enjoy some crazy leaders who lead fun small group times. We also have a number of adventure camps each year.

Children Our desire is that children own Friday Blaze (and Jubilee) as their very own and invite their friends to join us and be part of all that God has in store for them. Friday Blaze runs on a Friday evening during the school term times from 6 – 8 pm.

KIDZ KLUB:

Kidz Klub is a ministry to children who live in our local community of Observatory, Salt River and Woodstock.
At Kidz Klub we provide a safe and loving environment for local children to play crazy team games, sing high-energy action songs and win prizes, as well as being introduced to Bible teaching through story telling, puppet shows and special guest interviews.
Each week the Kidz Klub team visits the children in their homes, providing a gateway to building better relationships with the children, and befriending their families and the wider community.
Kidz Klub meets every Saturday morning during the school term at the Jubilee Centre from 10 – 11.30am.

123 Fun:

This is a family vibe! On a Friday evening, once a month, all Jubilee children from grade 1, 2 & 3 meet with their parents in a Jubilee family’s home. We share supper together, play games, learn about important Biblical and family values and have fun together. Our vision is to teach Biblical values and to support parents to continue growing these values with their children during the week.
